FRIDA
Frida Kahlo was Diego Rivera's wife but
also a passionate painter in her own right. Kahlo has been described
as a Surrealist or magical realist. Her work has been celebrated
internationally as emblematic of Mexican national and indigenous
traditions, and by feminists for what is seen as its uncompromising
depiction of the female experience and form.
Known to have had many extramarital affairs, as was her husband,
"Frida" by Jonathan Van Voorhees embodies not just the passion of an artist and feminist but
that of a woman.
